CINCINNATI (June 13, 2018) - ProAmpac, one of the nation’s fastest growing flexible packaging manufacturers, is promoting opportunities for big picture thinking to drive industry growth at the Global Pouch Forum in Miami, Florida, June 13-15.

“The journey into the future of flexible packaging depends on us, as an industry,” said ProAmpac's Vice President of Global Application and Innovation Development, Sal Pellingra, who will be addressing industry attendees. “The positive direction we’ve seen in the past looks very different going forward. It requires a different lens to view the real issues of packaging choices and product waste and the impact of both on the world we live in.”

"We need to educate the public and policy makers on what is really impacting the environment. The EPA shows paper as the largest component of landfills, followed by food and plastic.  Flexible packaging is one of the least contributors. Lightweighting, innovation in materials and recycling must continue, as well as promoting the right public policies to steer packaging in the best direction for our future,” he said.

Flexible packaging will play a role to continue to reduce packaging and minimize product waste. Increasing the education of stakeholders on differences between material choices and the low environmental impact flexible packaging has compared to most rigid alternatives, is key.

ProAmpac is the Platinum sponsor of the event where CPG brand owners and industry leaders come together. In a separate address, Sal Pellingra will speak about current trends and innovations in sustainability, functionality, design, e-commerce and smart packaging in his talk “Creating Consumer Engagement with Flexible Packaging”.

"By having conversations with key stakeholders, it’s in our best interest as an industry to promote the message to consumers and policy makers about understanding the issues at stake. Future innovations will help resolve these issues, promoting recyclability and sustainability," said Adam Grose, Chief Commercial Officer.

In addition, ProAmpac will display PRO-DURA Premium, E-Z SnackPak, PRO-LockNPeel, and PRO-Vue Shield among other key product innovations from the company’s exhibit booth at location A 3&4.
