This trend is expanding into new markets and applications where fiber-based packaging has traditionally had a smaller presence, such as frozen foods and overwraps.

Fiber-based packaging is cost-effective and widely used due to its efficient design, ease of availability, and beneficial properties like stiffness and easy-tear functionality. It leverages renewable resources and post-consumer content can be incorporated depending on the paper grade and mill, further enhancing its environmental credentials. Uncoated paper is both highly recyclable and compostable, while coated paper with barrier materials may also be considered recyclable if it passes the necessary testing.
