The use of energy is one of the most environmentally demanding elements of Hymopack’s manufacturing operation. Hymopack has made substantial investments to reduce its energy consumption, and has even been recognized by the Government Agency for Energy Conservation for its efforts.
EXAMPLES INCLUDE:
Upgrade of equipment to reduce energy inputs.
Participation in government-sponsored energy curtailment programs established to reduce energy consumption during peak demand periods.
Recovery of heat energy from operating equipment to reduce natural gas requirements for heating and other processes.
Upgrade of all light fixtures to consume less energy.
Hymopack has invested in state-of-the-art recycling equipment to eliminate all plastic waste created within its facility. Every pound of plastic waste that is created during the manufacturing process is reprocessed for use in new bags. Hymopack also reprocesses post-industrial waste from other manufacturers.
Plastic shopping bags are 100% recyclable.
Plastic shopping bags can be recycled curbside or through retailer in-store ‘take back’ programs.
The recycled material from plastic bags can be made into new bags or other plastic products like plastic lumber, sub-laminate flooring, park benches, picnic tables, and decking.
